ULTRASOUND SEX DETERMINATION OF AVIAN HATCHLINGS

A method for making a sex determination in avian hatchlings involves thefollowing activities. A process line is equipped to process an endlessplurality ofhatchlings. The process line has an ultrasound inspection station for thehatchlings. Theultrasound inspection results are analyzed to find the presence of given sex-determinativestructure for each hatchling. If the given sex-determinative structure isfound then a firstcategory assignment is made. The hatchling is sorted according to its categoryassignment The category assignments might number two or three or so includingpositively-identified one sex, positively-identified other sex, and default towaste for anyof various reasons.
