A method for calibrating a clinical analyzer having a dispenser, and forautomatically aligning the dispenser of the clinical analyzer includes loadinga calibrationelement at a portion of the clinical analyzer; moving a dispenser of theclinical analyzer in apre-determined direction (Y) to a position over the calibration element;measuring the height(Z) from the dispenser to the calibration element and determining a positioncoordinate(Y i, Z i); storing the position coordinate (Y i, Z i); determining a maximumheight (Z max) for thedispenser positioned over the calibration element defined as positioncoordinate (Y opt, Z max);and storing the position coordinate including the maximum height (Z max) forthe dispenserpositioned over the calibration element.
