The invention relates to a ground-reinforcing element with a polygonal upper side (12) and a polygonal lower side (14), whereby the upper side and the lower side each run in a first and second, essentially perpendicular to each other, main spreading direction (A1, A2) and the ground-reinforcing element (10, 10', 10'') has at least one first recess (16) for housing a first tensioning element (33), by means of which the ground-reinforcing element can be tightened to adjacent ground-reinforcement elements in the first spreading direction (A1) and at last one second recess (18) for housing a second tensioning element (34) by means of which the ground-reinforcing element can be tightened to adjacent ground-reinforcing elements in the second main spreading direction (A2). The invention further relates to a composite (1) of said ground-reinforcing elements (10, 10', 10'') and a method for laying such a composite.
