PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for rapidly designing a self-weight bending forming die for glass sheets by a simple operation, using a three-dimensional CAD capable of handling a solid model.;SOLUTION: A ring frame of the solid model of the forming die stored in an existing solid model storage section 31 is so deformed as to coincide with the shape of the fresh glass sheet by using a glass shape exchanging means 26. The change of the changeable parameters of the solid model is reflected in the solid model after the deformation by using a changed parameter reflecting means 27, by which the optimization of the parameters is performed. Next, restraining conditions are added to the data of the solid model, and an angular moment to rotate a rotary frame of the segmental forming die is calculated by using an angular moment analyzing means 29. If the calculated angular moment is inadequate, the change of the parameters affecting the angular moment is reflected in the model by using the changed parameter reflecting means 27, by which a desired angular moment is realized.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
