The present invention relates mainly to the protein maba, also designated protein fabg1, protein in purified form, or the recombinant proteins derived from the protein maba by mutation of one or more amino acids, as well as their uses, as well as their crystallographic coordinates, in the context of the implementation of the methods of design and screening of ligands of these proteins, and advantageously of ligands which are inhibitors of the enzymatic activity of these proteins.
