The form/shape grinding process is used for he generation of the profiles of the cams on a camshaft used for operation of valves , the cam profiles are defined by a data set that is used to control the machine grinding process . The produced form is measured and the form/shape error data determined. This is then used to correct the form data set such that the produced profile achieved is correct.
