The isolator (1) has a trunk (2) with a glass fibre reinforced plastics core (3), enclosed by an outer mantle (5). The outer mantle comprises a screening sleeve (4) when attached to a helical screen (6) around its outside. The sleeve is formed in one piece without any joins and has a smooth outer surface. The helical screen has a convex curvature on its upper surface and corrugations or ribs on its lower surface.
