BACILLUS SUBTILIS SPORES TO STIMULATE THE IMMUNE RESPONSES

A composition for administration to a human or animal subject comprises spores of Bacillus subtilis in an amount effective to stimulate immune responsiveness in a subject. The spores have either an adjuvant, immunomodulatory, immune potentiation or dendritic cell maturation effect or a combination thereof. A method of boosting an immune response which comprises administering B. subtilis spores to an animal or human is also described. A vaccine is described which comprises B. subtilis spores and antigen. Alternatively, the vaccine comprises B. subtilis spores in the absence of antigen.
