Connectable components have flat connecting surfaces with an interlocking arrangement between them in the joining gap. The interlocking arrangement comprises a hard material layer with crystals protruding from the surface applied on at least one connecting surface of the components. An Independent claim is also included for a process for producing connecting components. Preferably the hard material layer is flat and compact and is applied directly to the base material of the component by CVD or PVD. The hard material layer contains nitrides, e.g. titanium nitride or carbides. The hard material layer has a thickness of approximately 10 microns.
