The invention relates to a method for connecting alternative access networks to a communication system (GPRS/UMTS), whereby a subscriber station logs into a first communication network (UMTS/GPRS) and said subscriber station (MS) wishes to log into another communication at a later point of time. Advantageously, the other network is connected to the first network as a subordinate network. The network management of the station (MS) and/or the transmission of data packets to the station (MS) is carried out in a central control device (GGSN; MC) of the home network (GPRS/UMTS) of the station (MS). The central control device (GGSN; MC) of the logged-in network (GPRS/UMTS) is provided with a specific routing function for the subscribers or such stations and enables downlink and uplink IP packets to be routed for said station (MS) in a manner which is independent from the access network from the internet to said station (MS) and from the station to the internet.
