METHOD FOR TREATING AN EFFLUENT CONTAINING IN PARTICULAR NITROGEN AND/OR PHOSPHORUS AND/OR ORGANIC MATTER AND/OR HEAVY METALS

The process, comprising treatment of effluent with base to volatilize ammonia and/or precipitate at least part of phosphorus and/or organic matters, electroflocculation and separation of flocks and sludge, is new. The process of treatment of effluent (A) comprising nitrogen and/or phosphorus and/or organic matters and/or heavy metals comprises: (a) addition of base (B), to volatilize part of ammonia nitrogen into gaseous ammonia and/or precipitate at least part of phosphorus and/or precipitate at least part of organic matter; (b) electroflocculation of thus obtained mixture of effluent and base (A + B); and (c) separation of flocks (F) formed during electroflocculation and sludge (E) present in liquid phase (D) which constitutes purified effluent. An Independent claim is also included for equipment for purification of effluent (A), comprising mixer (1) for mixing effluent (A) and base (B), electroflocculation cell (5) and a system of separation of liquid phase (D) (purified effluent) from sludge (E) and flocks (F) formed during electroflocculation.
