Determination of a number of sequentially ordered pages in a set of ordered media

Method for determining the number of sequentially arranged pages in an ordered media set has the following steps: assignment of the ordered media set to an entry in a paper catalogue in response to an input via the user interface (13) and reading of an indicator for the corresponding media set from the entry, where by the indicator contains the number of sequential pages in the ordered media set. The inventive method enables configuration of a print machine (26) so that it sends a first number of sequentially ordered pages to a first output and a second number to a second output. The method also involves reading of a user- defined name for an order media set and assignment of the name to the number of pages indicator.
