The optical switches (D,C,A,B) selectively connect an output port (DMi) of demultiplexer (Demux) to one of the input ports (Mi-2,Mi-1,Mi,Mi+1) of multiplexer (Mux), where i' is from 3 to N. The output ports (DM1,DM2) and (DMN+1,DMN+2) of the demultiplexer are selectively and respectively connected to input ports (M1/M2, M2/M3, MN-1/MN, MN/MN+1) of the multiplexer, by respective switches. ??An Independent claim is also included for variable and reconfigurable optical delay circuit.
