PURPOSE: A confocal imaging system using a linear line scanning and a method thereof are provided, which can reduce an acquisition rate of an image frame and can extend a size of an image field as obtaining three dimensional range image information. CONSTITUTION: According to the confocal imaging system(1) forming an image of a target, an illuminating unit provides the first illuminating beam. The first focusing unit(206) receives the first illuminating beam from the illuminating unit and then focuses it on a fixed position of the target as the first light-line, and collects a light formed by the first light-line scattered by the target. A scanning unit(200) scans the first light-line from the first focusing unit along a plane of the target. The second focusing unit(300) receives the light collected by the first focusing unit and focuses it as the second light-line. A real time light path correction unit removes the influence of the light path change by correcting the light path length change of the light generated while scanning the first light-line in real time. A passing unit passes the second light-line. And an image processing unit forms an image as to the target by detecting information required for the image processing from the second light-line.
