PURPOSE: A system for treating nitrogen and phosphorus in sewage/wastewater is provided to improve the treatment efficiency of nitrogen and phosphorus without the high cost of construction. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises a primary intermittent aeration tank(5); an anaerobic/anoxic tank(3) which supplies sewage/wastewater after treatment; a secondary intermittent aeration tank(7); an aeration tank(9) which treats wastewater from the secondary intermittent aeration tank in aerobic condition; a treated water return line(15) which returns treated water from the secondary intermittent aeration tank or aeration tank; a final settling tank(11) which settles sludge and discharges clean supernatant water; a sludge return line(17) which returns sludge from the final settling tank to the primary intermittent aeration tank or the anaerobic/anoxic tank.
