110- A Lung Protecting Agent Comprising 110-phenanthroline as Active Ingredient

PURPOSE: A lung protecting agent containing ortho-phenanthroline as a main component is provided to protect the lung from radiation by oral or non-oral administration to a mammal except for a human before irradiation of radioactive radiation. Therefore, the agent can be widely used in inhibition of oxidative damage to the lung by radiation of the whole body. CONSTITUTION: The lung protecting agent contains 1,10-phenanthroline(ortho-phenanthroline) and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt. The pharmaceutically acceptable salt contains a binder(polyvinylpyrrolidone), a disintegrating agent(calcium carboxymethyl cellulose), a diluent(corn starch), a lubricant(magnesium stearate), a sweetening agent(white sugar), a stabilizer(sodium carboxymethylcellulose), a preservative(methyl ester of paraoxybenzoic acid), flavorings or a mixture thereof.
