PURPOSE: To provide a method and a system for selecting a radio base station which can allot radio channels at higher speed, by suppressing network cost and shortening the search time of a vacant radio channel in a mobile communication system which has microcell constitution. CONSTITUTION: The above problems are solved the radio base station selecting method in a mobile communication system. A radio base station inquires of the group of peripheral radio base stations notified from a mobile station about the use condition of a radio channel when it has received a signal required for connection of the above mobile station, selects the radio base station to be connected with the above mobile station, based on the report of the use condition of the radio channel obtained from the group of peripheral radio stations to the inquiry, and notifies the above mobile station of the information for letting it perform the communication with the selected radio station. In the radio base station selecting method, the mobile station searches for the group of peripheral base stations capable of communication, and selects the radio base station to be communicated in the mobile communication system which has a plurality of radio base stations and mobile stations.
