PURPOSE: To provide an infrared rays remote control system provided with an inconspicuous infrared rays remote control repeater which is hard to be affected by an obstacle and does not take an installation area at low cost. CONSTITUTION: In an infrared rays remote control system, an illuminator 1 is installed on a ceiling at a center part within a room, and also an illuminator infrared rays remote control transmitter 2 for remotely controlling the illuminator 1 is provided. A plurality of devices 3a, 3b,..., 3x and infrared rays remote control transmitters 4a, 4b,..., 4x for a device for remotely controlling the devices are provided. When the illuminator 1 received an infrared rays signal 5, the illuminator 1 lights a luminair on or off, and when the illuminator 1 received infrared rays signals 6a, 6b,..., 6x, the illuminator 1 transmits infrared rays signals 18a, 18b,..., 18x obtained by amplifying and reproducing the infrared rays signals to the devices 3a, 3b,..., 3x.
