PURPOSE: A method of correcting geometric distortion using a digital convergence controller is provided to drive a convergence yoke coil to correct geometric distortion so as to obtain images with high picture quality. CONSTITUTION: A method of correcting geometric distortion using a digital convergence controller includes the first step of extracting a plurality of image positions from an image display area of a CRT, the second step of mapping data storage addresses of a data storage device with the extracted image positions, and the third step of measuring mis-convergence of the extracted image positions. The method further includes the fourth step of generating correction data for the mis-convergence, the fifth step of storing the mis-convergence correction data in the mapped data storage addresses, the sixth step of independently correcting mis-convergence in each image position based on the data stored in the data storage device, and the seventh step of moving four outer boundary lines of top, bottom, left and right of the cross hatch pattern image of G beam to desired positions to correct the distortion in the straight form and correcting mis-convergence with respect to R beam and B beam by a digital dynamic convergence controller using a convergence yoke coil in the case where geometric distortion of a picture is removed.
