PURPOSE: A method of arranging LS(Line Start) and QLS(Quasi LS) codes in a frame for supporting a multi-rate in a mobile communication system is provided to simultaneously use spreading codes having mutually different spreading factors, in the LS and QLS codes that are orthogonal spreading codes having interference free characteristics, so as to solve the deterioration of IFW(Interference Free Window) characteristics. CONSTITUTION: In case the length of a guard component vary while the length of LS codes are changed, the length of the guard component is calculated by applying weight according to the length of spreading codes. Accordingly, the length of the guard component is allocated variably according to channel status. If the LS codes having different length with each other are used as the guard component length is in proportion to the code length, frame starts and frame ends are not completely coincident according to each length of the LS codes. And a zero padding method that inserts a value of 0(zero) in the frame ends is used, in order to mate the frame starts supporting each rate.
