PURPOSE: A medium access control protocol of a dynamic resource assignment in a wireless ATM network is provided to simultaneously consider simplification of slot assignments and service quality assurance, and to perform dynamic reservations according to each frame, thereby enabling performance in real time based on priorities and increasing transmission efficiency by using dynamic variables. CONSTITUTION: When a new call with a constant bit rate arrives, a mobile terminal requests a connection through competition of access request slots in an upward link. When the connection request is successful, a base station assigns requested bandwidth to information slots, and transmits a confirmation signal through scheduling and control slots in a downward link. The mobile terminal scans the scheduling and control slots to confirm whether slots are assigned within the information slots. If a connection request of traffic with a constant bit rate is successful, bandwidth requested per frame is assigned, and is reserved with frame units until a service is completed. The mobile terminal transmits ATM cells with the slots assigned in the information slots of the upward link.
