PURPOSE: A device for controlling cross connection of a DCS(Digital Cross-connect System) and a method thereof are provided to perform a cross connection command selectively according to whether a corresponding output port is being serviced, so as to prevent service suspension due to an input/output error of the cross connection command. CONSTITUTION: An address processor(310) generates addresses of an input port and an output port to be cross connected according to a cross connection command supplied from an external. A command processor(320) generates a release order for an input port and an output port to be disconnected, when resetting cross connection in accordance with the cross connection command, and generates a connection order for the input port and the output port to be cross connected upon resetting the cross connection. A plurality of switching terminals perform switching for the cross connection between the input port designated by the address and a plurality of output ports in accordance with the connection and release orders of the command processor(320). And an input/output signal re-processor(330) selectively delivers the address of the input port generated in the address processor(310) for the plurality of output ports.
