PURPOSE: A furnace and a method for calcining a rare-earth composite multi-metallic oxide three-way catalyst support that is simultaneously oxidized and reduced with pollutants such as carbon monoxide, hydrocarbon, nitrogen oxides and sulfur compounds by substituting for precious metal such as platinum. CONSTITUTION: In a furnace for calcining a rare-earth composite multi-metallic catalyst support substituted for platinum comprising a housing formed by adhering a thermal insulating material(2) onto the inner circumferential surface of an outer layer(1) of the housing forming an external form, a heating main body(3) formed by masoning or compression molding refractories(15) inside the housing, a hydrogen supply pipe for supplying hydrogen from the outside of the housing to the inside of the heating main body, a heat discharge pipe(14) for controlling discharge of heat in the internal space of the heating main body, and an electricity supply unit(11) for supplying electricity, the furnace is characterized in that two tunnel type heating spaces in which heating unit and transfer propelling unit are respectively formed by dividing the internal space of one heating main body using a separating wall(13), and a heating element plate(16) is adhered onto the inner circumferential surface of wall bodies of both sides of the heating main body(3), a heating rod(10) is mounted on the inner central part of the heating element plate(16) or the inner circumferential surface(4) of the heating element plate(16), and the electricity supply unit(11) is connected to the heating rod(10), wherein the transfer propelling unit comprises a sliding track plate supporting stand(7) formed on the inner circumferential surface of the lower part of the heating main body, a sliding track plate(8) supported on the sliding track plate supporting stand, a sliding track(6) which is half buried in the sliding track plate, and a propelling plate(5) mounted on the sliding track.
