Iteration terminating using quality index criteria of turbo codes

Decoder dynamically terminates iteration calculations in the decoding of the encoded signal received by using the quality index based on a convolution. In a turbo decoder having two recursion processors to repeat the loop, at least one additional recursion process is coupled in parallel to inputs of the at least one processor of the recursion processors. All recursion processors performs the iterative calculation for the signal at the same time. At least one additional recursion processor calculates a quality index of the signal in each period. The controller terminates the iteration when the measure of the quality index exceeds a predetermined reference level.
