PURPOSE: A receiving device for a digital television having a picture phone receiving function and a method thereof are provided to automatically operate a PIP screen of a television as a phone signal, thereby receiving the picture phone while watching a TV broadcasting program. CONSTITUTION: A receiving method for a digital television having a picture phone receiving function includes the steps of checking whether a picture phone signal is input from the outside while watching a television broadcasting of a predetermined channel on a main screen(420), muting sound of the main screen and operating an auxiliary screen while extracting video and audio data from the phone signal(430,440), and displaying a picture phone signal on the operated auxiliary screen(450).
