METHOD OF CONTROLLING AUTOMATICALLY A BRIGHTNESS AND SHARPNESS FOR A MOVING PICTURE ON A MONITOR

PURPOSE: A method for automatically controlling brightness and definition of a motion picture in a monitor is provided to automatically detect whether an input image is a motion picture or a window image and automatically adjust brightness and definition of the image. CONSTITUTION: The front porch and back porch of a video signal with respect to each of input frames are detected(310). It is judged whether or not the front porch and back porch vary with frames(320). When the front porch and back porch with respect to each frame are changed, an inputted image is judged to be a motion picture and brightness and definition of the picture are increased(350,360). In the case that the front porch and back porch are not varied but fixed, the inputted image is judged to be a window picture and brightness and definition of the picture are decreased(330,340).
