QUANTIZATION METHOD FOR VIDEO USING WEIGHT OF INTEREST REGION

PURPOSE: An image quantizer using a weight by region of interest is provided to adjust a quantization factor so as to improve picture quality in order to use the human visual characteristic. CONSTITUTION: An image quantizer includes a unit(1) of extracting a region of interest and calculating a weight, a unit(2) of extracting a camera motion and calculating a weight, a complexity calculating unit(3), a weight merging unit(4), and a normalizing unit(5). The unit of extracting a region of interest and calculating a weight extracts the region of interest using a motion vector and complexity and calculates a weight with respect to the region of interest. The unit of extracting a camera motion and calculating a weight extracts a camera motion using motion vectors in regions other than the region of interest and calculates a weight with respect to the camera motion. The complexity calculating unit calculates complexity for controlling the weight of the region of interest. The weight merging unit obtains the entire weight using the calculated weights. The normalizing unit normalizes the weight of the weight merging unit.
