PURPOSE: A secure web mail server system for separating a mail encoding/decoding part from a key management part and a method for the same are provided to enhance the efficiency by separating a mail encoding/decoding process from a key management process. CONSTITUTION: A secure web mail server system for separating a mail encoding/decoding part from a key management part includes a network(10), an user computer(20), and a secure web mail server(30). The network is connected to a plurality of communication lines. The user computer stores a client program for encoding/decoding a mail to a predetermined storage unit, transmits a key/certificate request signal to the outside, receives the requested key/certificate from the outside, and encodes or decodes the mail by using the key/certificate. The secure web mail server includes a web server(31), a client module(32), a key/certificate manager(33), and a database(34). The web server is used for receiving general mail data and secure mail data. The client module is used for transmitting the client program to the user computer. The key/certificate manager is used for transmitting the key/certificate to the user computer. The database is used for storing the key/certificate.
