System for interoperability between a MMS phone and a non-MMS phone and method thereof

PURPOSE: A system and method for providing compatibility between an MMS(Multimedia Messaging Service) terminal and a non-MMS terminal is provided so that the user of a non-MMS terminal that doesn't supports MMS can confirm a multimedia message sent through an MMS terminal that supports MMS. CONSTITUTION: A system for providing compatibility between an MMS terminal and a non-MMS terminal is comprised of an MMS terminal(10), an MMS server(20), an SMS(Short Message Service) server(30), a multimedia message confirmation server(40), a receiving-side terminal(50), and a computer(60). The MMS terminal(10) has the functions to write, store, and transmit various kinds of media. The MMS server(20), if the MMS terminal(10) accesses and requests the transmission of a multimedia message, judges whether the receiving-side terminal(50) can process the multimedia message. The SMS server(30) transmits a short message containing a web address and an accessible identifier to the receiving-side terminal(50) if the transmission of a short message containing a part of a multimedia message and the web address and accessible identifier of a multimedia message confirmation server is requested from the MMS server(20). The multimedia message confirmation server(40) receives multimedia and identifiers from the MMS server(20) and stores them. The computer(60) accesses the multimedia message confirmation server(40), logs in through the transmission of a received identifier, and confirms a stored multimedia message.
