PURPOSE: A circuit for controlling a boot ROM using a CPLD(Complex Programmable Logic Device) on a gigabit network fire-wall system formed by an Intel IXP1200 network processor is provided to remarkably reduce an area of the installing parts by enabling a flash memory of 4Mbyte to be used by the CPLD when designing the boot ROM, and to simply control the control logic by programming a VHDL(VHSIC Hardware Description Language) code. CONSTITUTION: The address and chip enable signals needed for using the flash memory of a 4Mbyte capacity are programmed to the CPLD in the VHDL by using the chip enable signal and a slow port chip enable signal of the IXP1200.
