NON-STANDARDIZED PAPER-DETECTING DEVICE OF PRINTER AND HANDLING METHOD OF PICKED-UP NON-STANDARDIZED PAPER THEREBY

PURPOSE: A device for detecting non-standardized paper of a printer and a method of handling picked-up non-standardized paper, using the detector are provided to reduce a waste of printing by suppressing printing on non-standardized paper. CONSTITUTION: A device for detecting non-standardized paper of a printer has plural paper containers and sensors(41,42,43), and a non-standardized paper-detecting unit(44). The paper containers and sensors include a source of light, irradiating light to a predetermined position of a paper feed path, and light detectors(41b,42b) disposed opposite the source of light. The paper containers and sensors are separated along the direction crossing with the paper feeding direction, to divide a passage-detecting area of paper(31). The non-standardized paper-detecting unit receives electric signals output from each light detector, compares the signal difference with tolerance, detects standard abnormality of fed paper, and outputs the result to a controller controlling printing work. Thus, printing on non-standardized paper is suppressed.
