PURPOSE: An excellent whitening cosmetic base containing extract of persimmon leaves which is provided to be safe and inhibits tyrosinase is provided. CONSTITUTION: Persimmon leaves, which are not dried, are extracted with C1-C3 alcohol hydrate/anhydride or ethyl acetate at the temperature of 4-30C for 3-20 days then concentrated, or Persimmon leaves are extracted with water, C1-C3 hydrate/anhydride alcohol or ethyl acetate at the temperature of 50-100C for 3-24 hours and then also concentrated. Diethylether is used to get rid of soluble components before or after the extraction. The content of persimmon leaves extract in the cosmetic base is 0.0001-10 wt.% based on the dried weight of cosmetic base.
