COVER MATERIALS FOR WASTE AND METHOD FOR THE REMOVAL OF AN OFFENSIVE ODOR OF LEACHATE FROM WASTE LANDFILL

PURPOSE: Provided are a landfill cover and a method for removing leachate odor. The landfill cover prevents waste from leaking as well as the minimization of odor, the prevention of fire, the leakage of leachate and the prevention of the uptake of birds or bugs. CONSTITUTION: The landfill cover consists of a viscous slurry with a thickness of 0.635cm, which is composed of 20-60 % of liquid, 30-70 % of a fixing agent and 10 % of fiber. The fixing agent contains additionally slag and soda ash sludge. The method for removing leachate odor proceeds to the following steps: measuring initial pH of leachate; determining the soda ash sludge quantity in the fixing agent by adding soda ash sludge and adjusting the leachate to pH 10-11; air stripping in a stirring drum by controlling 40 deg.C for an operation temperature; and removing ammonium nitrogen by affluent air.
