PURPOSE: Provided are a protease of mutation induced human immunodeficiency virus type 1(HIV-1) and its gene, as well as a method for manufacturing the same. The protease is useful for the study on the drug sensitivity of HIV-1, and development of therapeutics of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. CONSTITUTION: A protease of mutation induced human immunodeficiency virus type 1(HIV-1) is characteristically represented by the amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:5. HIV-1 having amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:4 is mutated by substituting amino acids of 43th, 48th, 60th and 82th thereof with glutamine, valine, glutamic acid and alanine, respectively. It shows resistance against a compound of the formula(1).
