PURPOSE: Inhibition of MT1-MMP activity as a kind of matrix metalloproteinase by endostatin, decomposition of a precursor(proMMP-2) of MMP-2 as matrix metalloproteinase and inhibition of activation to MMP-2 to suppress activated matrix metalloproteinase activity are provided, which suppress matrix degradation. CONSTITUTION: The method for suppressing matrix degradation using endostatin is characterized in that the suppression of cell membrane 1 type matrix metalloproteinase(MT1-MMP) activity by endostatin inhibits a precursor(proMMP-2) of matrix metalloproteinase to be activated to matrix metalloproteinase(MMP-2).
