PURPOSE: A method for preparing a cathode for a molten carbonate fuel cell is provided, to prevent the loss of lithium and the change of electrolyte composition during the operation of a battery. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of mixing uniformly a Li-containing material and a Ni powder in a solvent to prepare a slurry mixture; molding the slurry mixture into a sheet shape; optionally drying the sheet to remove water left in the sheet completely; and sintering the sheet to a cathode having a composition of LixNi(1-x)O. Preferably the Li-containing material is Li2CO3; the solvent is water; and the Ni powder is a chain-shaped one having a size of 3 micrometers. A value x depends on the addition amount of Li2CO3.
