FIELD: preventing abnormal use of copied subscriber identity information in mobile communication network. SUBSTANCE: location of mobile stations (Ms) is corrected in at least one network register (HLR, VLR). Number (N) of at least one type of location corrections (mainly between mobile switching centers MSC) is checked during preset check period (say, 24 hours). This number (N) is compared with desired threshold value (Nmax) and if number (N) of location corrections exceeds desired threshold value (Nmax), signal will be generated to indicate probable copying of subscriber identity information. EFFECT: improved protection of mobile communication system against abnormal use without modifying subscriber equipment and other pieces of network architecture. 7 cl, 6 dwg
