FIELD: safety facilities. SUBSTANCE: method involves detecting, on the basis of data on excessive amounts of hexachlorobutadiene concentration in industrial rooms, sources of air contamination with hexachlorobutadiene vapors by means of halogen leak detector with digital or point indication; providing cartogram of contaminating room surfaces with hexachlorobutadiene; degassing room by eliminating revealed air contaminating sources in room and operatively controlling effectiveness of source elimination practices on the basis of halogen leak detector indications until hexachlorobutadiene concentration in air does not exceed allowable limits. Method allows hexachlorobutadine concentration in air of industrial rooms to be reduced and effectiveness of degassing to be increased. EFFECT: reduced time of degassing practices and reduced consumption of degassing solution by providing degassing operations only in established contaminated sites, increased efficiency in controlling halogen leak sources and reduced hazardous action of hexachlorobutadiene vapors upon workers.
