FIELD: medicine, oncology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to usage of retinoid compound comprising adamantyl or adamantyl derivatives. These adamantyl-retinoid derivatives are useful for treatment of many forms of cancer and solid tumors being mainly androgen-independent prostate and skin cancer, pancreas carcinoma, colon cancer, melanoma, ovary cancer, liver cancer, lung small-cell carcinoma, lung nonsmall-cell carcinoma, cervical carcinoma, brain cancer, bladder cancer, breast cancer, neuroblastoma/glyoblastoma and leukemia. Invention relates also to novel compounds that are derivatives of adamantyl or adamantyl groups that can be used as active agents for treatment and prophylaxis of keratinization impairments, cutaneous diseases and other sicknesses. Invention provides the development of specific retinoids or retinoid compounds eliciting the enhanced properties, in part, anticancer activity and exhibiting the preferable capacity to induce apoptosis of cancer cells.
