An assembly for determining weather-degradation characteristics of materials when exposed to light, oxygen and water consists of a glass silicon oxide containing a test item, the container having an oxygen inlet, a light source and a thermostat. A test process and assembly are employed to determine the weather-degradation characteristics of materials e.g. textiles when exposed to light, oxygen and water (12). The assembly consists of a container (13) made of silicon oxide glass in which the test item (15) is inserted, an oxygen inlet, and a light source (14) and a thermostat (11). The light source may be a xenon lamp, metal halogen lamp, or an ultraviolet fluorescent lamp.
