Protective device comprises a sealing element (4) coupled to the laser processing machine (1); an inner chamber (4a) formed by the sealing element and closed by placing the uncoupled machine onto the workpiece to be processed; and a light-sensitive sensor (9) arranged in the inner chamber to produce a foreign light signal on passing light from outside into the inner chamber.
