The system has a path for light from a light source (1) via a reflector (2) and at least one optical element (3) whose surface has microstructures whose optical data vary with position depending on the desired light distribution. The reflector is in the form of a half hollow cylinder divided in the direction of its axis and the light source extends essentially along the cylinder's axis, whereby its radius decreases continuously towards its ends.
