The method involves computing a flow field through a first stator (2) and a rotor (4) for a turbine control mode to determine the position of an event in the flow field after the rotor and positioning a second stator relative to this event. The flow field is computed for a transonic mode with transonic flow through the rotor to determine the positions of compression pulse (9) pressure difference maxima after the rotor. The second stator is positioned so that at least the leading edges (10) of its blades (6) do not lie near the pressure difference maxima.
