The switch has an actuation element (11) provided with symbols on certain areas (12,13) and at least one button (18,19) that interacts with the actuation element and that is fitted with a light source (16,17). A base body for the actuation element is made from translucent plastic material and has a very thin wall in the symbol areas compared to the remaining wall areas. A foil printed with the symbols is provided on the symbol areas. AN Independent claim is also included for a method of manufacturing a switch actuation element with symbols.
