The package for a camera (9) has two sheets (1,2), particularly of cardboard, abutting at their edges, the front sheet forming a window (4) through which the camera extends forwards. The underside of the camera, with the sheets standing upright, is located horizontally. The lower edge of the front and/or rear sheet in its total height between the lowre edge of the sheet and the lower edge of the window forms a strip (5), which is bent outwards and forwards from the plane of the front sheet. With the package set vertically the camera is supported on the horizontal surface on which the package is placed. The strip is two-part and the two front ends stand freely forwards.
