A drive unit supported by a frame, has a power receiving surface attached to an intermediate transfer roller (10). A connection unit mounted on the power receiving surface, is connected to a spring for varying the load applied to the intermediate transfer roller. A separation unit separates the connection unit from the drive unit, based on the applied load power. An Independent claim is also included for fixed load provision apparatus.
