A light twin-engined aircraft has an essentially tailless planform with a payload-bearing fuselage centre section. The fuselage rear end has a hinged engine pod (11) providing vectored thrust and operating in conjunction with wing flaps (8). The propellers are contra-rotating double-piston engines with exhaust turbochargers. The engine pod and flaps are directed downwards during an emergency landing or short field landing flare.
