Internal combustion engine piston with cooling channel slopes channel downward from inlet to outlet and has channel floor corrugated locally with offset crests and one crest at inlet floor.
Internal combustion engine piston with cooling channel slopes channel downward from inlet to outlet and has channel floor corrugated locally with offset crests and one crest at inlet floor.
Relative the piston head, the cooling channel (14) is angled down from inlet (16) and retains a section apart from local expansions due to cooling channel corrugations. The bottom limit (29) of the channel is corrugated with its crests offset to maintain a constant channel section throughout. Only one side of the channel (14) is corrugated notably the inner side to give the expansions and a channel crest is sited on one of the channel limits at the inlet point (16). The channel should slope steadily from inlet (16) to outlet (18) and is in ring shape overall and can be divided at the inlet by ribwork.
