The material strip (10) passes through a processing gap (11) between a sonic horn (7) and an opposing roll (8). Material slippage between horn and opposing roll is eliminated by pressing the strip against the latter roll using at least one pressure roll (40,41). An Independent claim is made for the process equipment which includes an ultrasonic generator with sonic horn, an opposing roll and at least one pressure roll.
