Laser cutting in surface of hard object involves re-focusing laser beam on floor of cut when increasing cut depth by adjusting focusing arrangement

The method involves using a focused laser beam while the object is repeatedly scanned by the laser beam along the cut axis and the width off the cut is expanded by moving the focus perpendicularly to the cut axis. The beam is re-focused on the floor of the cut when increasing the cut depth by adjusting the focusing arrangement. AN Independent claim is also included for the following: an arrangement for automatically making a cut in the surface of a hard object with a focused laser beam.
